Cabins Lost

Two cabins were lost on August 12, 2007. The cabins were located on the east side of the Dredge Ponds in an area of high risk. Fire crews had laid fire hose, set up sprinklers, dug line and removed brush from around the structures but the intensity of the fire produced sustained 400 foot flames as the front approached and the crews attempting to defend the structures had to be removed. This photo shows the reminents of one of the firehose and sprinkler assemblies in front of a melted piece of metal roofing.
